Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIV/AIDS (AGHA) Uganda (AGHA) is pleased to announce a vacancy for the position of Executive Director. The position will report to the Chairperson Board of Trustees of AGHA Uganda and will be closely supervised by the Chairperson of the Executive Committee.
Job Purpose
The position of Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Trustees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Administration and Leadership
- Promote AGHA through building strategic partnerships with CSOs, government organs, training institutions, and agencies engaged in health and human rights, health professional bodies and the media.
- Coordinate Executive Committee and Board of Trustee meetings.
- Review existing policies and generate new policies to ensure AGHA complies with the national laws and regulations.
- Conduct staff appraisals to contribute to quality performance, career growth and capacity development.
- Maintains collaborative and cooperative relationships with regional, state-wide and local coalitions, agencies and other partners.

2. Board of Directors Support & Development
- Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with the Board when appropriate
- Works closely with the Board to understand, develop and carry out strategic vision.
- Keep the board members fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important influencing factors.

3. Operational planning and strategic management
- Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs and interventions
- Ensure that the operations of the organization meets the expectations of its clients, Board and donors

4. Financial planning and management
- Research funding sources, oversee the development of fund raising plans and write funding proposals to implement AGHA’s strategic plan.
- Coordinate timely development of annual and quarterly work plans and budgets.
- Ensure that quarterly and annual financial and narrative programmatic reports are compiled and presented to the Executive Committee and subsequently to the Board in a timely manner.
- Manage all AGHA finances and resources in accordance with the finance and accounting principles and procedures provided for in the AGHA Financial Management Manual

5. Advocacy and Media Publicity
- Strengthen AGHA’s leadership role in health policy advocacy at all levels.
- Generate, supervise and disseminate evidence based research related to health and human rights.
- Ensures consistent organizational presence and leadership in social network sites, the website, and other communications with supporters.
- Ensures consistent and clear organizational communications with traditional and non-traditional media outlets that represent the organization’s point of view.
- Maintains collaborative and cooperative relationships with regional, state-wide and local coalitions, agencies and other partners.

Qualification requirements
• A master’s degree of Public Health, Social Sector Planning, Development Studies, Law or Public Policy is a must
• Additional training in Project Planning and Management or Project Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage
• 06 years progressive top level management experience in a busy advocacy organization is required
