Description

This financial year was a remarkable one for AGHA as we successfully implemented the planned activities. The report shares AGHAs' work in 2012; AGHA successfully coordinated CSOs to engage in the national health policy advocacy processes and produced the second CSO shadow report that contributed to influencing implementation of national health strategies to improve health outcomes. AGHA, as a health rights advocacy group, worked very closely with different line ministries in government such as: uganda Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Health, Medicines monitoring unit and CSOs to advocate for realization of the right to health in uganda. This year AGHA achieved great strides in advocating for health rights by undertaking several campaigns in health financing and human resources for health.

AGHA was among the CSO fraternity that analyzed the health budget for Fy 2011/12 and influenced decisions of the policy makers in the parliament to increase health budget to 800 billions. Furthermore AGHA invested resources in building civil society capacity on budget analysis, monitoring, and health rights. AGHA’s work with health professionals under the Health Advocacy Workforce Forum (HWAF) has continued to yield more fruits in advocating for welfare of health workers in uganda.
